Checked in on a Saturday about 2 pm.
Gave the clerk the sandwich and asked for any complimentary upgrades. She stepped away and asked her manager and gave me a room on the 36th floor. Still a basic room, but a nice strip view. And gave me late checkout.
checked in about 11am. Put the $20 between my card and license. Our room was already comped. Got free early check in, late check out and a bottle of bubbly for the $20. The check in/out extensions are normally $30 each.
Did the sandwich with a $20 bill. Immediately was offered an upgrade to a larger suite with 2 bathrooms and a jacuzzi. Mentioned it was my girlfriend’s birthday and they sent us some champagne. Great value for $20.
Did the $20 trick and received a room with a better view, complimentary champagne and no resort fee.
Went from run of the house room to strip view on the 35th floor with a complimentary bottle of champagne.
5:30PM, Went to the first available desk clerk.
Put a $20 between the ID and credit card and asked “Are their any complimentary upgrades available?”
We hope that we get a female clerk as we’ve discovered in the past that they seem to be generous with the upgrades. Sorry guys.
My wife said to the clerk as she was handing her the tip that we were frequent guests at the hotel and the clerk immediately began tapping away at the keyboard. I noticed a wee smile on her face as she saw that we were indeed frequent guests. By frequent I mean at least once a year for several years. We also asked about 2 for 1 coupons and she was very generous with those. We also received a bottle of champagne. A very nice touch and one of may a reason we will continue to stay at the TI every time we travel to LV.
This was our third time in Vegas and second time trying the sandwich trick.
I read a bunch of reviews before we left and many people said that $20.00 can’t get you very much in Vegas anymore so I decided to try the $50.00 sandwich.
We checked in around 7:00 p.m on a Sunday. There was no line up. I handed over the $50.00 sandwich to a nice lady in her 20’s and asked if there were any complimentary room upgrades available. She said that she would take a look and went and spoke with her manager. She came back and said that nothing was available tonight but to check back with her first thing in the morning. She then offered us a free bottle of champagne which room service delivered. I came back the next morning and talked to her again and we got upgraded to the Petite Suite from a basic run of the mill room. The room was huge, had two bathrooms and a jacuzzi tub. We saved over $530.00 with this tip. I am 2/2 on the sandwich tricks, first at Planet Hollywood and now at TI. It is well worth the gamble. Better odds than any slot machine in Sin City!
We checked in a 2pm. In the line I was looking for fresh clerks that were just about to start their shift. There were several on the right side of the check-in desk, while most of the people were going to the tired clerks on the left side. Once my line came up, I stayed on the side for a bit until the needed group of clerks opened up and went straight to them.
I handed the guy my sandwich (I decided to tip $50 since my stay is 1 week long, around $1100 total) and quietly and politely asked if there are any complimentary upgrades. He asked me if I wanted any specific room, and I asked for something nice, since me and my wife were on the honey moon. He was so nice and gave us the petite suite (much larger room with 2 bathrooms). Unfortunately, the first one was overlooking the construction site, so I went back with the keys and asked him if there is anything overlooking the strip (didn’t need to tip this time). In less than a minute I had the new keys. Such a wonderful beginning of our stay!
The line was pretty long so it was hard to target a clerk. The clerk i got had just come off of break and I was her first customer. I past her my ID, and Credit card with the $20 in between. Simply asked if there was an Complimentary room upgrades today. She gave me a little smirk. We were staying for 4 nights. She asked us what brought use to Vegas. We told her is was our first time and it was our first vacation since of 3 year old was born, Which is all true but we poured it on. She upgraded use to not only a strip view but a Panoramic strip view room, gave us a complimentary bottle of Champagne and I think she also slipped in a couple more 2 for 1 buffet coupons. Well worth the $20 tip.
I got a room upgrade and a bottle of free Champagne after using the twenty dollar trick.
